One of Claire's favorite shows is Futurama. She has watched just about every episode and usually one or more of us is watching with her. I love that show. There is always something she gets out of it. Season 5 Episode 5 is about the crew going to Rome and finding Leonardo Da Vinci. Claire loves this episode. She watches it over and over. She gets the history in it and understands it, she relates it to the real Leonardo Da Vinci. She asks questions and has me read history books, websites and stories about him. She knows that he was not just an artist but so much more and little things about him like he was left handed and considered of the devil because of it.
Now, she wants to travel to Europe so she can see his works. She wants to own the Last Supper. Not a replica but the original. I see a rich traveling life in our future. I cant imagine where she will take me so she can study real things and places. Did I mention she isn't yet 7? She wouldn't be able to do this kind of interesting learning in Kindergarten. I am so glad I didn't put her in school.

That is very cool. My kiddo has always loved Da Vinci too. We aren't unschoolers but take unschooly rabbit trails at times as interesting things come up and most times our curriculum choices revolve around her interests and also get changed as we go along. I've never really followed what public schools do because I don't care. I have never once regretted homeschooling. A half year of pre-K was all we could tolerate! LOL
