The start of something yummy!

Claire has wanted to start a garden for a long time. I bought some seeds and we got started yesterday. We have two different kinds of tomatoes, early girl and sweet 100's. Early girl is a good size slicing tomato and sweet 100's are graped size tomatos, perfect for Claire's mouth sized snacks. We also have cucumbers, lettuce, broccoli, cantaloupe, summer squash, basil, and oregano. In a few weeks, we will also plant two kinds of beans, pole and snap and also corn. I am not really a gardener and dont have a green thumb. This is something I really have to learn, pay attention to detail of and ask questions about. Anytime I have plants, they die or my garden ends up neglected. This year, we really need the food, so I am super motivated to get this right. I know it is going to take a lot of work on my part. I just want to get it right.

While I was working on cleaning out the garden bed, Claire and Kyle set up bowling Fred Flinstone style. Throwing rocks down the path to knock over the bricks was fun. When I took a break, I joined in the fun and it was hard, cause the stones are not round and they roll in the wrong direction sometimes. At least for me the did. They kids had better luck.
